EXPO 2025 Osaka, Kansai — Films for an ocean-conservation pavilion
On a stage where the world gathers, films that carry the life of the sea.2025 | World Expo / Ocean conservation / Environmental awareness

In 2025, the World Expo — EXPO 2025 Osaka, Kansai — was held on Yumeshima, Osaka. On this stage, where people gathered from all over the world, Narita Jun handled film production for a pavilion themed on ocean conservation.
Working toward an international vision on ocean plastic waste, the pavilion was designed so that visitors could enjoy learning about the sustainable use of marine resources and the protection of marine ecosystems. Within that space, the films had one role: to gently hand visitors the connection between the life of the sea and our daily lives.
It began with plastic waste in the Seto Inland Sea, then the coral of Okinawa, the sea off Shakotan, the Fujimae Tidal Flat — years of recording the sea and its creatures led to this work on a world stage.
To everyone who saw it
Because of the nature of the pavilion, the exhibition and film content are not published here. If someone who met the films at the venue found themselves thinking about the sea on the way home — that is my deepest wish.
