Kimisuka | Promotional film
2019.06 | Concept film
I made a promotional film for Kimisuka, a scout-style job-hunting service. Kimisuka uses a “reverse recruiting” model in which companies send offers to students; it is one of Japan's largest such services, with one in three job-hunting students registered.
Designing a film that reaches people, working backward
If you just make a film, it wanders off on its own, floats, and ends without results. What matters is who it is for, in what context, and on which platform it will be seen. Working backward from a marketing perspective, I designed a film that would truly reach its intended audience.
A film that moves job-hunting students' hearts
A first job hunt is a time of mixed hope and anxiety. Among so many options, I wanted students to feel, “There is a place that needs me.” Rather than just explaining the service's features, I aimed for a film that reaches the emotions and gently encourages the viewer.

Planning, structure and storyboards
Who is it for, and in what context will they see it? I built the structure and concept and turned them into storyboards. I gathered and compared job-hunting and corporate commercials, and cast the performers at the same time.

Refining the video storyboard
Before the shoot, I made a “video storyboard” cut together from temporary footage and reviewed it again and again with the Kimisuka team. Eight versions. Checking the actual flow and tempo rather than words, we shaped it into one film.

“To you: the joy of being loved for who you are.” It was released on Kimisuka's official channel. “Job hunting without pretending” is still Kimisuka's slogan.
