REDEN × Hiroyuki Miyasako | Video ad

I directed the music video for the REDEN theme song, released on Hiroyuki Miyasako's YouTube channel.

The moment I heard the song at the first meeting, my instinct told me, “This music will surely encourage Japan.” But realistically, we had only a few weeks. Making it as a job in an unremarkable Tokyo studio would have been easy, but through Miyasako's way of life, I wanted to show many people what it means to live without giving up. So, in faith, I put the entire budget into it and chose to take on the challenge with friends.

From the structure of the film to the background animation, lighting and location scouting, there was a mountain of challenges, but we stayed up all night the day before and saw it through to the very end without giving up. Believing that this challenge would surely bloom the following year. Hope for Japan: I believe in the power of film.

The song is “A New Morning,” the theme song for the medicated hair-growth tonic REDEN. It was released on October 20, 2020, sung by Miyasako, and the music video came out the same day. It was shot at Live Church Sunza and Sunza Marina, on the shore of Lake Hamana in Shizuoka. Alongside the music video, we also made a 30-second web commercial.
