The roots of creativity, told to children | SOZOW Pro LIVE talk

2020 — 2023 | Talk / For children

This project covers the talks I gave at “Pro LIVE,” hosted by SOZOW Inc., which offers inquiry-based programs for children,in 2021 and 2023, on two occasions.
The theme: the wish to make people happy is the root of creativity.
Drawing on my own formative experiences, I shared the fun and possibilities of creativity with children.

Background

  • Speaking at “SOZOW Pro LIVE,” an online inquiry-based program for children from SOZOW Inc.
  • First talk in 2021, second in 2023.
  • The aim was to show children what drives creativity and what it can do.

Approach

  • Presenting the wish to make people happy as the starting point of creativity, in a way that is easy to understand.
  • Sharing my own formative experience: feelings I could not express in words came across through film.
  • A message that affirms the endless ways children can express themselves, and encourages the freedom of self-expression.

Results and response

  • Many children said, “I want to express myself too.”
  • The talks were featured on the official SOZOW LIFE page and PR TIMES.
  • They resonated not only with children but also with parents and educators, and words of appreciation spread.

A comment from Narita

By making films, I was able to convey my thoughts and feelings that words could not.
That can be a big possibility for children who cannot put things into words, too.
Everyone has creative power inside them. That is exactly why I sincerely hope they will believe in themselves and nurture their own way of expressing it.

Besides the talks, I also made films for SOZOW's in-person events and the opening film that plays before online streams. The opening, which expresses SOZOW's idea of “unleashing curiosity” in animation, is still in use.

Timeline

My journey with SOZOW

  1. 2020.10

    Promotional video for the launch

    Film production

On the day SOZOW, “an online theme park where curiosity creates the future,” launched, I delivered its promotional video. My connection with SOZOW began here.

  2. 2021.11.28

Pro LIVE, “Set off into the world of the professional video creator!”

    Talk

Online, 75 to 90 minutes with children from all over Japan. I talked about what a video creator does, how a chance encounter led me into film, and the fun of making films, and answered lots of questions. I showed them the ad with Yuya Tegoshi and the projection mapping at Saiku.

  3. 2023.03

“There's more than one right answer.”

    Talk

At a talk hosted by SOZOW, I told elementary and junior high school students that there is more than one right answer.

  4. 2023.07

SOZOW FES, “Jobs of the future”

    Talk

I talked about how the wish to make people happy is what drives creativity. The children tried being mini video creators with me, and I showed them how motion is set second by second in After Effects. I closed with a message to the children.

Client's Voice

A lovely video that conveys the children's excitement.

He made an effort to understand our vision and the value we offer customers. The video of our in-person event became a lovely piece that conveys the children's excitement.
The opening video for our online streams also captured our idea of “unleashing curiosity” perfectly, and we have used it ever since. I find his process and way of working very sincere.
