Stretch Up × Rie Tanaka | Promotional film

Stretch Up commercial, “Rie Tanaka promotional movie”

I directed a Stretch Up commercial with former Olympic gymnast Rie Tanaka.

What I put into this work was continuity. During the pandemic, I was one of the people encouraged by seeing Rie on the 24-Hour TV charity program. What moved me was not the glamorous stage but the days of practice before it. After retiring and a long gap, how could she perform as beautifully as in her competitive days? The answer was that she had kept stretching every day.

Her beauty and her way of being, unchanged even after becoming a mother, come from what she keeps doing in daily life. Not taking on a challenge, but keeping going. Continuity becomes strength. I made the film with that in mind.

Stretch Up signed a sponsorship agreement with Rie Tanaka in October 2020, because the way she kept sharing the appeal of stretching on social media after retiring matched the brand's belief that “stretching changes your body.” This is the 30-second web commercial released on the same day as that announcement.
