Branding that conveys the warmth of a community and a family, loved by 200,000 YouTube subscribers

In this project, I made the corporate website for takasutile, a lifestyle YouTuber.
The name takasutile comes from his family home, a roof-tile business more than 100 years old.
Beyond YouTube and influencer work, we thought together about making products that draw on the tile business and about regional revitalization,
and I handled everything from the website's concept design and production to the logo and brand colors.

YouTube channel: takasutile

Background

Takasu has an unusual background as a former firefighter, and a sudden cancer diagnosis led him to rethink his life.
Starting YouTube because he wanted to share his way of life, he has shown the world the appeal of country living and the warmth of family.
Centered on his hometown, family and tradition, it grew into work that contributes to regional revitalization.

Approach

  • Concept design: “Danran” (family togetherness). Built on the warmth of family and the theme “under one roof.”
  • Design: Putting approachability first, with salmon pink (“Ghibli pink”) as the base color.
  • A unified brand world: A warm design, linked to the YouTube channel, that conveys life as it really is.
  • Team production: Working with my friend, designer rio, to express a sense of family down to the details.

Results and reach

  • Overseas viewers grew rapidly, spreading the appeal of country living around the world.
  • Product development using local resources is also under way.
  • It is drawing attention from many quarters as an example of regional revitalization.

What's next

  • Accelerating product development that combines local tradition with creativity.
  • Taking Japan's country-living culture global.

The finished corporate website opens with the line “Takasu Tile, a roof-tile business of 100 years.” From an About section conveying family togetherness under one roof, to past work and client testimonials, the channels they run, their business, an introduction to the family, and a daily blog. I designed it as a place where people who met them on YouTube can learn about the Takasu family's work and life, and get in touch.

Timeline

Takasu's journey, and how the website came about

  1. 2020 — 2023

The son of a tile maker, on YouTube

He started a country-living vlog in 2020, finished his cabin and left the fire service in 2021. In 2022, subscribers grew from 30,000 to 80,000, and in 2023 he received the Silver Play Button he had been aiming for.

  2. 2023.12

    Proposal

To create a place that could take on, as business, the activity that had grown on YouTube, I wrote a proposal for the corporate website and settled on the concept “danran.”

  3. 2024.06 — 2024.08

Building and launching the corporate website

Design, production, logo and brand colors

For the top page, we gathered photos of the family together and photos from the days of tile making. The base color is salmon pink (“Ghibli pink”). In 2024, a book, “TAKASU TILE,” was also published.
